Professor Dragos Vinereanu is currently President of the Senate of the University of Medicine and Pharmacy Carol Davila, Bucharest, Romania, and head of the Department of Cardiology and Cardiovascular Surgery at the University & Emergency Hospital of Bucharest. He is a graduate of the University of Medicine and Pharmacy Carol Davila, Bucharest, since 1990. He has been a member of the faculty of the university since 1992. He was Invited Professor and Scholar Fulbright at the Duke Clinical Research Institute, Duke University, Durham, USA. His primary research interests are in heart failure, atrial fibrillation, echocardiography, diagnosis of subclinical heart disease, and prevention of left ventricular dysfunction. He has been first author or co-author of more than 1000 scientific presentations and more than 300 original full-papers. He is member of the Romanian Academy of Medical Sciences and Corresponding Member of the Romanian Academy. He was the President of the Romanian Society of Cardiology (2017-2020), and he is the current President of the Romanian Heart Foundation. He has received important national awards, such as Health Merit Order of the Romanian Presidency, “George Palade” Award of the Romanian College of Physicians, and Special Award “Iuliu Hatieganu” for research of the Romanian Academy. He has an Hirsch’s index of 67 (Google Scholar) and 56 (WOS), with more than 25,000 citations.
