Biography

Physician trained in clinical epidemiology and cardiovascular research, with extensive experience in predictive modeling, systematic reviews and meta-analyses, and clinical practice guidelines. As of today, Dr. Hernandez has 284 peer-reviewed publications in Scopus (https://www.scopus.com/authid/detail.uri?authorId=56447777300). Currently focused on comparative effectiveness and outcomes research, development of clinical practice guidelines, and systematic reviews and meta-analyses of cohort studies and randomized controlled trials, with special attention to drug efficacy and safety. Topics of interest and expertise in clinical research are cardiovascular diseases (acute coronary syndromes, heart failure, atrial fibrillation, diabetes, obesity, vascular/cardiac surgery), novel oral anticoagulants, perioperative medicine, obstructive sleep apnea, HIV-associated infections, and COVID-19. Dr. Hernandez is Academic Editor of PLoS One, Statistical Editor of the Journal of Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery, and Statistical reviewer of Chest. He is peer reviewer of 27 international peer reviewed journals, including Heart, CMAJ, Ann Intern Med, CID, Eur Heart J, JAMA Internal Medicine, J Clin Epidemiol, The Lancet and BMJ. Adrian is a grant reviewer for ZonMw, de Dutch Organization for Scientific Research, and the American Heart Association; he also is Fellow of the American College of Cardiology and the European Society of Cardiology. Currently is Associate Professor of comparative effectiveness and outcomes research, University of Connecticut School of Pharmacy, CT, USA; and Researcher of the Vicerrectorado de Investigación (VRI), Universidad San Ignacio de Loyola (USIL), Lima, Peru.
